Just to be a part of the industry is a highlight in itself. I have a lot of

friends in the industry and this is important for future plans.

CLAUS SPREYER EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF A&O LIGHTING TECHNOLOGY

You’ve joined A&O Technology as Executive Vice President, what attracted you to the job? I joined a good, engaging team. I found professional, reliable products, which are competitive in the international market. I met the flexible, young company, through a friendship with Marco Niedermeier, CEO of the company. He has always been keen to spread his great ideas in the market, and I trust that we can make these ideas reality.

You have a lot of experience in the lighting world, how will you implement this in your role? Quality and mutual confidence forms the basis of every cooperation. With my international contacts,, including lighting designers, consultants, architects, sales and distribution companies, I have a number of strong relationships to bring to this new role. Understanding how the industry works means I am able to spot opportunities for products and the company. My experienced background brings credibility to my role. I want to integrate this at A&O and I know that it is always possible with a good team like this to step forward and gain success.

What goals have you set yourself? I see an opportunity for this company to grow in a huge way. I want to be a part of that success and I will give as much as possible to make this happen.

For a newcomer in the lighting world, how would you sum up A&O? A&O is an internationally active, full service provider

www.mondodr.com

engaged in the manufacture, sale and rental of high- end products for the architectural and entertainment lighting sectors. A worldwide network of partners, international collaborations, and high-quality equipment - including the inhouse manufactured Alpha One and the Falcon range - as well as a team of employees with many years of experience, have raised A&O to the status of a global player, providing lighting equipment for the widest variety of applications and individual lighting solutions.

What are your plans for the A&O brand? A&O is transforming itself - along with a focus on entertainment - into one of the leading suppliers in the field of architectural lighting. A&O is a company with a good concept and professional implementation in the fields of entertainment and architectural lighting. In both, its Falcon range is already well positioned. We are working with a network of project partners worldwide, which is steadily growing, bringing the first benefits for A&O as an important player in outdoor architectural lighting. We also see the entertainment part of the company growing, with events becoming bigger and more prestigious. We are working to be well positioned in the world of large lighting events.

Do you have any predictions for the future of the lighting world? There are copies of every lighting fixture in the world and only the small money seems to be important. But reality is different, minimalism is leading us the wrong

way. Professionalism and quality is the right way. On top of the quality chain is always the best place to be, without too many competitors. That should be the goal for all quality oriented people in our industry. The steps to develop conventional lighting will get smaller and smaller and there will only be an increase in the quality. But to bring LED lighting up to scratch for the professional sector is a challenge and it will take a few years more of development.

What has been your career highlight? There are many highlights, but one is definitively my time at Lightpower. I am proud to have been part of that team for so many years. Just to be a part of the industry is a highlight in itself. I have a lot of friends in the industry and this is important for future plans. It is not important for me to always be at the forefront of the action, while I definitely enjoy success, it is also important to share the success with other people. You never walk alone.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years time? Travelling the world, consulting and staying in contact with my old friends from the industry. Definitely taking some more time for myself and enjoying the nice side of life. Maybe even writing a book!

How would you describe yourself? I’m a team player with individuality, a musician influenced by industrial thinking processes. I enjoy good mediterrean food and wine. I’m optimistic, love to communicate, but need time to relax sometimes.
