The idea was to make the club bounce. Eddie wanted a change in the lighting show to communicate a change of DJ, making the audio and lighting work together. He said: “I have a lot of lighting in here and I like that.”
Eddie chose 40 Robe ColorSpot 575 AT moving heads for the Main Room. He selected these because he required a fixture that would be able to produce a large number of effects. He also carefully con- sidered the maintenance aspects, and Robe’s Korean distributor, Art Tech - which supplied and installed all the fixtures - offered Eddie a great after service package, so in the end it was an easy choice. Eddie explained further about the lighting concept at Ellui: “We change the lighting every 16 bars, eight bars, or four bars, in line with the music. They work together. We change the colours as well. For example, when The Zoo Project from Ibiza is playing, we change the colours to green and yellow, as it has a sort of jungle theme. We’re constantly thinking about things like that, to maintain the concept.” Two Robe Faze 1000 FT machines, and two Fog 1550 FT machines are also installed in the Main Room. While a Robe Faze 400 FT ma- chine in the Black Zone, and two Robe DMX Control 512 consoles - one in the Black Zone and one in the White Zone - complete the Robe line-up.

Ellui marks a transition in the Korean market from former disco-type installations to more sophisticated, club and lounge style venues. This is so important because disco was the first and most important seg- ment in Korea, in which Robe and Art Tech were involved. “With Robe’s transition from an OEM manufacturer and club supplier to one of the industry’s leading lighting manufacturers, Art Tech has been able to successfully address many more applications over the years. These include theatre, rental, production, and TV. Now, after a few years, it seems we have come full circle again.” Eddie was keen to create a particular atmosphere at Ellui, and he did so using strobe and laser effects. He incorporated 16 strobes effects into the lighting rig in the Main Room, and he distributed four
