194 SHOW GUIDE TOY FAIR 2012 INDIGO JAMM GH53
Indigo Jamm is a new British toy design company launching a range of wooden toys at Toy Fair. Each of the firm’s toys are manufactured with quality materials and aim to inspire fun while helping with development.
The Kitchenette Diner is designed
to promote imaginative play, build social skills, manual dexterity and co-operative interaction. Being wooden it is both sturdy and durable, and the bright red base colour with white and blue detail gives a retro feeling. The Kitchenette features an oven with a windowed opening door, a sink for washing up, a shelf area to store pots pans, plus there is an oven glove, three utensils and salt and pepper pots plus a clock with moving hands for teaching children how to tell the time. The white temperature controls make a realistic clicking sound when tweaked.
Indigo Jamm will be launching 12
new toys, including a colourful farmyard sound puzzle, a number matching London Bus, a first wooden xylophone and a wide variety of toys that have been carefully designed to not only to look great, but provide children with long lasting fun.
KLOO GH15
Kloo, winner of the ‘ToyTalk Best Board and Card Game 2011’, has turned learning a language into a game. Players make sentences and learn words in a foreign language to score points. The longer the sentence and the more words they learn, the faster they can power their cars around the special ‘Race to Paris’ or
‘Race to Madrid’ game boards. Compete, race and overtake – Kloo aims to make learning
French and Spanish fast, easy and a lot more fun. There is no need to be a language expert – anyone can start playing Kloo as an absolute beginner. Within a few games players can potentially learn hundreds of words.
FEBRUARY 2012
Using coloured cars to keep score, players speed through the cities of France or Spain in a race to the capital. The game board shows genuine pictures of cultural sites and places of interest in each city.
Extra game board rules are designed to spice up the fun. The four decks of Kloo cards contain useful French or Spanish words for making sentences. Kloo was designed by games
experts, tested by teachers, manufactured in the UK and launched in the autumn of 2010. In March 2011 Kloo won the ‘Best Classic Toy’ at the 2011 Dr Toy Awards in the USA. In the UK Kloo won the ToyTalk Best Board Game 2011. The game comes with Quick Start Rules, four decks with different foreign words, a separate ‘Race to Paris’ game board and coloured Racing Car pieces. Kloo has grown fast since its launch,
with ten per cent of all people who view Kloo on Amazon buying it. It sells well to families and also direct to schools which buy the game in bulk. In another development, four countries – Norway, Belgium, Holland and Malaysia – have now secured the rights to manufacture Kloo in their countries for their own language learners. Kloo is available for people wishing to learn French, Spanish and English as a foreign language. Double decks are available from £12.99. From ages 8 through to adult and from beginner to intermediate learners.
