DKL enjoyed healthy growth in 2011, over 20 per cent on 2010, and, with a strong mix of products, the firm is confident of further growth in 2012. “We are proud to distribute great


brands, including the number one Hama Beads, Corolle dolls, Wonderworld Wooden Toys and mic.o.mic Build & Play vehicles, and to bring in two new brands is always an exciting prospect,” says David Allan, sales and marketing director at DKL.


One of the company’s new ranges is Miniland Educational, a Spanish firm which until now has only distributed into the education market. DKL will be exclusively launching the range of pre- school products, plastic vehicles and sand toys, model animals, dolls and educational toys, as well as science kits in tins, into the UK market. Highlights include science and aptitude stands, plus chunky plastic ride-ons. Meanwhile, Velcro Kids products use


new Velcro brand technology to create unique toys and encourage creativity in children. The new line includes the Velcro Kids House, a giant playhouse which is made entirely from cardboard and held together using Velcro brand fasteners, which allows it to be taken apart and flat packed when not in use. The collection also includes animal, princess and pirate masks with interchangeable, removable features making them ideal for dressing up. Priced around £5, each set includes one mask and two designs. Moving on to the ongoing brands in

to the line-up in 2012 including generic sets and key licences. Highlights include Wild Animals and Let’s Dance gift boxes, as well as Cars 2 and Disney Princess licensed sets. The collection of bead products includes mobiles, tub sets, jewellery and activity boxes, as well as seasonal items and Maxi sets, which is a range designed especially for younger children featuring larger beads. More High Street and independent


stores are stocking the Corolle doll line, with DKL launching new dolls, fashions and accessories across the whole range at Toy Fair. There will also be some new entry price point 20cm Corolline dolls, which will retail for under £15. The Corolle range also includes ragdolls, bath babies, fashion dolls and interactive dolls such as Lia, which speaks four languages. The Wonderworld Wooden Toys range includes nursery, educational, pre-school and role-play items, as well as children’s furniture with animal designs. Last year, the Wonderworld Eco House picked up Junior Magazine’s Design Award for Best Eco Toy, while the Peek-a-Boo-Ball and


Mini Tower Crane were featured in Practical Parenting Magazine’s Christmas Gift Guide. Mini vehicles continue to be bestsellers, along with the Neo Kitchen range and pull-alongs. Last, but certainly not least, DKL will be looking to build on the mic.o.mic Build & Play vehicle range following its successful launch last year. The line has seen over 20 per cent growth since its debut at the 2011 Toy Fair and includes a selection of different sized models with varying degrees of difficulty, with prices


starting from £9.99. New products for 2012 include a Jumbo Jet, Forklift Truck and Airbus A380. “We believe in offering our customers


great brands with high quality products that offer retailers a good margin, and supporting this with promotions and point of sale material,” Allan concludes. “For 2012, DKL is working with customers even more closely by looking to grow the sales and marketing team, focusing on social media and more in- store activity.”
