SHOW GUIDE TOY FAIR 2012 163 B156
Ravensburger has over 50 new designs for January 2012 and many more planned for autumn/winter. Managing director Tim Hall explains: “Our adult puzzle range has enjoyed tremendous growth, increasing by over 50 per cent in the last two years. So we’re very happy with sales, and delighted with the consumer feedback we’ve had. “We develop lots of designs especially for the British market, working with artists to produce images for puzzles. We also work with licensors like Disney, Carte Blanche, Santoro, the BBC and The National Gallery to offer a range of licensed designs too.”
Highlights of the January launch include a range of ‘London’ designs; classic images highlighting British themes; new additions to the quirky and fun Best of British cartoon series; ‘Perplexing Puzzles’, challenging, fresh and fun photographs taken from a popular greetings cards and gift wrap range; contemporary imagery from UK artists new to the puzzle market, and the launch of Gorjuss, a successful gift property made into puzzle designs.
JUMBO E46
Jumbo Games will be showcasing several new games and puzzles aimed at adults and children at Toy Fair. To celebrate the 15th year anniversary
of Wasgij for 2012, Jumbo is expanding the range to include a limited edition puzzle centred on the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, in the brand’s comical style. Jumbo will also be bringing family gaming into the 21st Century with iPieces, a series of interactive game pieces to allow traditional games to be played on the iPad, including Game of Goose, Air Hockey, Fishing Game and Snakes and Ladders.
Building on the success of this year’s
Disney Princess Magic Wand Game, Jumbo will be showcasing the re- launched Disney Princess Slipper Game at Toy Fair. Jumbo will also be exhibiting puzzle and games for pre-school TV character licences including Peppa Pig, Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom and
Everything’s Rosie. Jumbo will expand
its Peppa Pig range with an electronic game for 2012, based on musical chairs with a twist. It involves a spinning Merry-Go- Round which is spun once a player presses down on the top and the winner is the last player left on the Merry-Go- Round. Key pre-school range, Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom, will also see the addition of an electronic board game. Jumbo will also be showcasing a new
board game featuring the main characters from CBeebies show Everything’s Rosie. The game involves players collecting four matching photographs of their favourite character from the Everything’s Rosie series. The pre-teen boys market will be a big focus for Jumbo throughout 2012 with the brand securing the licence for
popular retro comeback ThunderCats. 2D puzzle and 3D games will be available for autumn/winter 2012 and include a 100-piece Glow in the Dark puzzle and 108-piece ThunderCats Puzzle-a-Round. Jumbo’s product offering will be
further strengthened with the launch of Stratego Sci-Fi, a battle game which involves leading an army to victory by using strategy and deception to break through your opponents lines to find the flag. This new take on the classic
battlefield strategy game allows two different gameplay options – normal and quick play. Following the success of Smart Games winning a 2011 Gold Practical Pre-school Award for Camelot Jr. and a Gold Right Start Award for Camouflage, Jumbo will be showcasing three titles from the range including Smart Games Titanic, Colour Code and IQ Twist. IQ Twist is a logic game with the aim of putting all the puzzle pieces on the game board.
