RE:CREATION has appointed its first ever sales director, Ian Wickham, who arrived from BBC
Worldwide in December. Speaking about his new recruit, Re:creation director Michael Lehrter said: “We are delighted to welcome someone of the calibre and experience of Ian to Re:creation and look forward to him leading our future sales strategy.”
Re:creation has also added three
non-executive directors in the fields of finance, logistics and television broadcasting.
Tim Ives has been hired as head of sales at MGA, with Sabine Dix joining as general sales manager. Ives has been in the toy industry for seven years and held a post at Tomy. Responsibilities in his new role will include developing and achieving growth. Ives commented: “I am really looking forward to joining such a dynamic team and working on iconic, market-leading brands such as Bratz, Lalaloopsy, Baby Annabell and Baby born.” Sabine Dix also joins MGA
from Tomy. She has worked in the toy industry for nearly ten years and has gained a wealth of experience looking after a number of national and key accounts. Her objective within her new role is to provide focused account management to deliver growth across her account portfolio.
Firebox has hired Dan Thomas as head of trade sales. He joins from the DVD
publisher Go Entertainment. Thomas will focus on building
exclusive and own-brand lines while developing Firebox’s, international wholesale operation. He has over 20 years of experience in sales and previously worked for the outdoor toy firm Telstar Leisure as well as Entertainment UK.
Clive Wooster is taking on the role of head of European sales at Tomy following the acquisition of RC2. He will head a team of national account managers from both businesses to manage the UK market. Wooster will be responsible for overseeing the regional offices in Germany, Benelux and Spain, working closely with Lionel Delisle, general sales manager of Tomy France.
Tomy has seen a flurry of
appointments, including Clive Wooster as head of European sales.
Meanwhile, Joanne Gray has been appointed head of European marketing. The team is now split into four categories: Mother, Infant and Toddler, which is headed up by
Antonia Rainbow; Pre-school which is lead by Mark Ashurst; Boys/Girls will be handled by Ruth Williams; and Gacha will be controlled by Morgan Weyl. Gary Hunter was appointed as president of Tomy Europe in July. The Farm and Agricultural sector of the business will operate separately due to its specialism. Emilia Lawes, who previously managed export sales for Learning Curve, will be responsible for this division, based in Exeter. Marketing, sales and product development will be based at Tomy's Sutton offices, while finance, operations and customer services will be located at RC2’s premises in Exeter. The product integrity department will be based in Totten.
Mike Townend has joined Seven Towns as senior vice president at Rubik’s global marketing, to lead brand development with a focus on digital and social media initiatives. Holly Rhiel has an expanded role as senior vice president at Rubik’s North America and will be brand champion with licensees, while continuing to head up the USA grassroots ‘You Can Do It’ campaign. David Hedley Jones will continue in the role of senior vice president – Rubik’s, global licensing and legal affairs. Hedley Jones is responsible for leading the licensing base and key business development initiatives. Chrisi Trussell, vice president,

Dragon’s Den entrepreneur Max McMurdo has joined the BBTradesales design team.
McMurdo entered the Den in 2007 with his Shopping Trolley Chair, Wash Drum Table and Ben the Bin. He left with £50k investment from Deborah Meaden and Theo Paphitis. BBTradesales began
distributing Ben the Bin and Fat Birds, a bird feeder made from excess household cooking fat, last year.
