GMIT has libraries at four campuses: in Galway, at the Learning Centre on the Dublin Road, at Cluain Mhuire on the Monivea Road, as well as at Castlebar and Letterfrack. On registration, all students become library members and use their Institute ID card as their library card.

GMIT libraries hold over 128,000 books and subscribe to 500 printed periodical titles, covering all the subject areas studied in the Institute. GMIT also has in excess of 20,000 full text periodicals available electronically through subscription databases, many of which are available offsite as well as on campus. The electronic resources collection includes additional web-based research services, a wide-range of CD-ROM titles and other multimedia material.
