Transfers
Students from other Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) applying to transfer to the second or other stage of a programme will be considered subject to places being available on that programme. Applicants must have passed the stage examinations and have achieved the learning outcomes for progression to the GMIT programme.
Applicants will be ranked on overall average result if demand exceeds available places. Offers for any available places will be made by the end of July.
ACCM Mode
Applicants applying for programmes in the ACCM mode are invited for interview. The purpose of the interview is to impart a full understanding of the ACCM mode, programme and module details and programme timetable.
Offers
Add-on ordinary Bachelor degrees/honours Bachelor degrees/Transfers: The Institute will make offers in June to GMIT students and in early July to external students subject to places being available.
Interrupted Study/Defer
Students who have interrupted their studies and who have been granted a defer will have the place automatically re-offered in the next academic year.
Defer Policy (Direct Applicants)
There is no defer facility open to students who wish to defer their place on an add-on ordinary or honours degree programme.
Engineering Trades (FETAC Level 6 Advanced Craft Certificate)
Trade apprentices are recruited directly into the trades by first applying for a job with an individual contractor, company or a contracting firm as an apprentice and then duly registering with FÁS. Apprentices do not apply to the Institute for places on apprenticeship programmes.

Accelerated Technician Programme (ATP) Castlebar Campus
The Higher Certificate in Computing in IT Support is advertised in October/ November with relevant closing date. Subject to a viable enrolment, the first six-month college block commences the following January.
Application is made to the Institute. Applicants who meet the minimum entry requirements (as for Level 6 programmes) and/or are competing on mature basis are invited for interview. The interview panel consists of academic staff and industry representatives. Applicants are scored and ranked depending on suitability for the programme and placement.

Fees and Grants
The current fees are available on the Institute website. Students who have previously attended third level education may be liable for tuition fees and Student Contribution. Students taking repeat modules will be liable for repeat tuition fees and Student Contribution.
