NEWS New results from Mibelle

Mibelle Biochmistry has announced new clinical study results for four of its existing cosmetic ingredients. The company tested the ability

of its InfraGuard antioxidant complex to mitigate potentially harmful effects from 5G radiation, as it had previously been shown to protect the skin from IR and blue light irradiation and oxidative damage caused by pollution. 5G irradiation of keratinocytes

led to an increase in reactive oxygen species and interleukin- 1β, suggesting an inflammatory response. Treatment with InfraGuard significantly reduced

both, thereby protecting skin cells from oxidative stress caused by 5G. Another test looked at the

ability of Mibelle’s KeraGuard natural antioxidant complex, which contains tara tannins and organic sunflower sprout extract, to protect and strengthen nails as well as hair from environmental stressors. Treating clipped-off nails with

2% KeraGuard was shown to protect them from UV-induced protein oxidation and this was confirmed in a placebo-controlled study, in which 23 women applied a serum containing 2% KeraGuard to their fingernails

Seppic’s formulas for happiness

Seppic introduced its new collection of ‘Six formulas for a happy mood’ at Cosmet’Agora in Paris on 11-12 January. These are all available in kit form and are designed to meet consumers’ needs for sensoriality and textures so as “to bring immediate well-being and awaken positive emotions”. Among these, Cosmos Skin Bliss is a

multifunctional product that uses Seppic’s Geltrap technology, an emulsion with an extra water-rich, gelled internal aqueous phase, plus Aspar’Age for anti-ageing effects. The company said that it has a rich initial texture that releases an aqueous film after spreading and is absorbed rapidly to leave “a refreshing bare-skin effect”. Fresh Water Drop is another new skincare

product which uses the Sepinov WEO polymer, whose quick break effect is said to provide immediate pleasure to users. It also contains Antileukin 6, an oily active ingredient named ‘golden algae’ that soothes and protects the skin after exposure to the sun. The Happy Skin formulation contains “a

pro-ageing cosmetic care that stimulates hearing, smell, sight with the appearance of a pink foam and a soft and comfortable touch”. Ingredients include Emogreen, Montanov 202 and Sepimax ZEN, plus nutritive gums containing Ceramosides, an anti-ageing active from Seppic’s nutrition expertise.

twice daily for 56 days. They found that nail thickness increased by 7.6% compared to the placebo and most agreed that their nails were harder, stronger and more beautiful. Another study found that

PhytoCellTec Goji significantly improved skin elasticity compared to a placebo control and also led to significant breast lifting, thus reducing breast sagging through an anti-gravity effect. daily treatment with a 1% Alpine Rose Active for 28 days had a significant soothing effect on sensitive scalps by helping to clear senescent, or ‘zombie’, cells that accumulate with age. This ingredient can thus prevent inflammation and tissue ageing, the company concluded.
