YEAR 7

Year 7 have continued to work incredibly hard and produce some excellent work to support this. It has been excellent to see all the pupils who have impressed teachers continually and therefore earn a range of awards including Core Value points, Core Values post cards and some Core Values badges. Year 7 are currently in the lead with regard to these points and this certainly reinforces their work ethic and determination to succeed.

ATTENDANCE AWARD Last term 7.3 went on a trip ice skating for the tutor group’s team building attendance award, however, some were not able to make it due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our or their control. So, it was only fair to do a second event and that was bowling. Please see below the students’ report on the trip.

Our second roll of honour is that of the pupils who achieved the status of Tutee of Week, nominated by tutors and then awarded in assembly by me. This award is a prestigious awarded for which students ought to be very proud. Tutors select pupils based on their attitude and behaviour; this may be demonstrated through being a kind person supporting a peer, helping the tutor to organise something, leading the tutor group in preparation for assembly, maybe showing a positive change in their behaviour or attitude. All of these things, I think, go a long way to ensuring that our young people grow up to be a rounded member of society, not just academic excellence.

7.3 Bowling Reward Trip – by Lyla Hawes After the ice-skating trip for 7.3 didn’t go exactly as planned, a replacement trip was planned for 11 students.

Bowling at Longwell Green - it was really fun; especially when Mr Anderson missed on both of his throws! Although, something had to break. It was one of the bowling alleys. It started to drop all of the spare pins but then the machne wouldn’t pick them back up again.

The most important thing was that we all had lots of fun and the bus didn’t break down.
