Music (continued)
LONGBRIDGE DEVERILL NUSRING HOME In January the choir performed for the residents at Longbridge Deverill Nursing Home. We love taking music into the community and this was an excellent opportunity for the choir to perform in an environment that is a little different to a hall or Church. They performed classics from the 40’s, 50’s and onwards and the audience thoroughly enjoyed joining in. The performance was so good we have been invited back to perform again!
FAIRFIELD FARM CONCERT
The Music Department were proud to represent Matravers at Fairfield Farm by organising a concert for the evening Youth Club. A variety of acts performed
including bands and solo acts. These ranged from a solo song written by Amy Wheeler in Year 7 all the way up to a professional level performance of Shape of You by the Sixth Form Band. There was even time for the pupils of Fairfield Farm to steal the show and take part in some impromptu karaoke. The whole evening was a massive success and we can’t wait to go back soon!
LIONS CONCERT 2018 The Lions concert 2018 hosted a record number of 180 young people from the town performed during the evening, from the smallest children from Westbury Infant School right up to Year 11 students from Matravers School.
This year the theme was ‘friendship’ and the schools each put together a lovely contribution to the programme. Highlights of the evening were “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” (from Toy Story), “With a Little Help from my Friends” (The Beatles), We Go Together
(from Grease) and “Count on Me” (Bruno Mars). The schools also joined together for a welcome song called “Siyanibulisa” which started the concert off and then ended the concert with the finale, which was “You’ve Got a Friend” (James Taylor/Carole King).
