Mathematics (continued) MATHS CLUB
Our 2 teams, “Chaos” and the “Butterfly Effect” have been investigating some sinister events this last term. We have been breaking coded clues, constructing impossible shapes and creating some beautiful Mobius strips. Come along to Maths club on a Tuesday after school to join in our fun!
We can be found in Mrs Wallbridge’s classroom, MA32.
STEM CLUB
Mrs Scott is continuing the Key Stage 3 and 4 Stem Club. The club is open to all students in Years 7 to 11 and will run every Thursday from 3 to 4. It involves applying the concepts of science, technology, engineering and maths to more practical activities including creating structures from everyday materials, designing the perfect paper aeroplane and using different types of cipher to crack a historical code.
Other recent sessions included using sequences to spot art forgeries, investigating the spread of infectious diseases and designing a new and unusual escape room challenge.

Our top set Year 9, 10 and 11 recently sat the intermediate maths challenge with several pupils achieving a bronze or silver certificate. These pupils are:

Despite being in year 9, Joel Foskett achieved the best score in the school and is one of 8000 pupils across the country to obtain a high enough score to progress to the next round.
