It has been an exciting year so far! Key Stage 3 students have now studied spreadsheet modelling which was a new experience for quite a few. They are now all tackling programming in various forms.
Year 7 are programming a Pacman game in Scratch – they will add in various features such as a point score, baddies and messages to the player. They are excited to be designing their own Pacmen and games which they will be able to play!
Year 8 are learning about control using Flowcharts. They are realising the potential problems that arise if everyday things such as traffic lights and car park barriers don’t work!
Year 9 are getting stuck into coding using Python. So far they are showing lots of resilience and helping each other with the inevitable syntax errors that occur.
In Key Stage 4 there is also a huge amount going on. Computer Scientists in Year 11 are studying hard for their final exams whilst Year 10 Creative iMedia students are coming to the end of their first piece of coursework – they have created interactive multimedia products.
Year 12s are studying the impact and use of Social Media in business. They will be running their own social media campaigns which should be a fascinating experience for them.
Year 13 are creating websites using specialist web authoring software.
