Disabled Shooters Group
On our regular visit to High Lodge last month, the turnout was reasonable for a shoot so far over to the east of the country. Due to the numbers attending we decided to put these into two groups, the ‘A’ class shooters and ‘others’, but everyone went around in one large group and had an enjoyable day.

Scores were as follows with trophies presented at the end of the day: Skeet; A Class Alec Sperling (22), Others – Peter Fish (19). DTL; A Class Richard Ford (23/69), Others - Peter Fish 17/50. Report from Julie Sperling
As Chair of the DSG, I was invited to attend a BICTSF Board meeting at Rugby and District Trap Club early in July. The Board and committee made me feel most welcome. The reason for the invitation was to formalise points of contact, needs of the disabled shooter and International selection criteria for the handi-sport disciplines. It was agreed that the selection process for Compak Sporting would continue in its current format with the DSG holding selection shoots. The Board requesting a copy of the selection procedure. The second discipline UT (only starting last year with

the handi-sport category), BICTSF would hold the selection process within their GB selection Shoots, anybody wishing to enter in this capacity would need to state if they were sitting or standing. Other points discussed were what counts as a disability, and what denotes that a shooter can still be classifi ed as sitting. An invitation to all disabled shooters to attend the UT Grand Prix at Nuthampstead on August bank holiday weekend was extended to us. The more participants we get for this event the stronger our case will be to obtain full BICTSF support. It was agreed that if any issues arose regarding disabled shooting events, I would be contacted and vice versa. We also agreed to link our websites (which is work in progress). I can only encourage disabled shooters to attend these events as our numbers are low, non-attendance of these shoots will make them not viable and we will lose them. The more interest we get the stronger our voice will be and more disciplines will hold handi-sport categories. We now have one last shoot this year, a 100 bird Sporting followed by the AGM at Sporting Targets on Saturday 25 September. I would encourage as many of you to attend as possible and also remind you that Joe Marshall, the secretary will be stepping down and we need someone to fi ll his shoes. Hope to see you there.
