Richard having triumphed by two targets. In the ladies event, Cheryl Hall took the win yet again in an event she is fast making her own, whilst in juniors, Phil Gray triumphed over Sam Green. We caught up with the winner while he was trying on the Breitling watch he had just won for his efforts. “I’m happy to have won again, I have done very little shooting so far this year and considering the big shoots (World Sporting and FITASC) are coming up in the next couple of weeks, I am very happy with the way I am shooting. The course was on the whole very good, it just goes to show you don’t need to put targets a long way out to beat shooters, some good creative thinking is all it takes. The stand at the far end caught out a lot of people who were leaving the blaze crosser very late, but I shot it quickly and I think that was crucial there. Also the dropping teal was quite inconsistent in the wind and I’m sure that would have caused problems. It’s a concentration game trying to put together a good score over 15 stands, a course like that can quickly nibble away at a good card, it’s easy to miss a couple here and a couple there and then you are in trouble. I really enjoyed the final, shooting against such quality competition at some very good targets was great fun. I would say it was one the best finals I have been in for a very long time.”
