Croft, Chris Potter and Howard Batt. Basically a great time was had by all. Report by Stella Hales (Kent CPSA Secretary)

Oxfordshire Jenni Richards | jennirichards@btconnect.com 07919 383571

By the time you read this column our website will have gone live. OMG I hear you all say. So go to www.oxfordshirecpsa.co.uk. We have to give a massive thank you to Steve Cox and web designer Mike Ripper for all their hard work. If it hadn’t have been for Steve I don’t think the website would have got off the ground. This month we have had three more of our County Championships. Universal Trench at Bisley was won by Kevin Durrant, so he is our O/T Champion, with Martin Butler coming first in C Class and JW Mace first in D Class. The Sportrap at Barby SG sees Julian Freeman Champion, with Tim Thornett first in AA Class and John Freeman first in the Colts. Olympic Skeet at Northampton was once again

won by Charles Davidmann, with Keith (Budgie) Joines second and Charles’ father Simon coming in third. Charles also came first in the OSK at Bisley this month with an impressive 96/100. So well done to Charles and all our other champions. This month Steve, Chris, Tim, and I went to the

World FITASC in Laterina, Italy. We had a really good time and the lads shot really well in some blistering heat, 40-50C. Perhaps the organisers of FITASC here should go and see how these

English Skeet

Joint congratulations are due to Surrey’s top Skeet couple. Katy Poulsom won the ladies High Gun at the South East of England Intercounties championship, and Allen Warren has qualified to shoot for England for a seventeenth time at the Home Internationals in Wales. It must be a full-time job polishing the silverware in their household.

events are organised abroad. In Italy there were approx 1400 shooters and it really went off like clockwork. We were all very impressed. Tim and I went and watched the final of the

Champion of Champions at the CLA Game Fair. What a fiasco that was. The semi-finals were ¾ hour late starting and the eventual winner still wasn’t there on his peg even then. In Italy, Nathan Batchelor was given the wrong back number, not his fault, but the referee made him go back to the start point and get it changed. By the time he got back to his peg he had missed his slot so was docked targets. This was the decision of the referee, no discussions, no tantrums, and no arguments. Points gone that was it. So what’s the difference?? I must just say Nathan shot really well!!! So going back to the Game Fair you all know most of the rules. But what I want to know is at what point are these rules going to be adhered to? I have been asked by several people to write a letter to the CPSA Board, why they were there and they did nothing about it when they had the chance. As I have said many times before shooters should stand up and say at the time when the grievance is occurring, not down

alongside each other in squad three, started strongly with perfect 25s. Allen followed this with a second clear round to go 50 straight, while David uncharacteristically dropped both low birds on station five. Rounds three and four provided David with a brace of 24s, and Allen shooting a couple of 23s saw the pair tied on 96. A sudden death shoot- off saw Allen blink first, opening the door for David to close out the Surrey County Olympic Skeet title. Elsewhere Surrey junior Tom Skinner was

shooting consistently to take the junior title and third place overall with an excellent and well- constructed 92. Congratulations to this young man. Pip Watson was inspired by the shooting of her squad-mates David and Allen and produced a personal best of 82 to top the ladies and was all smiles with her four scores in the twenties. Particular thanks to David for looking after those less experienced OS shooters in a technically demanding discipline.

of 99/294 which also gave him fourth overall. Michelle Waghorne is the lady winner with an impressive 98/289.

the airways all day Mondays. Personally, I blame the CPSA Board, they are just not strong enough as a group. They know shooters, ground owners and organisers flaunt or push rules to their absolute limit and they allow it to continue. We all have to abide by rules in our everyday lives, so if they are not strong enough as a governing body then eventually we will have anarchy. But then again perhaps it’s the shooters fault for not going to the CPSA meetings and being more vocal. And I might not be allowed to write this column again!!!!

Allen Warren Universal Trench

Congratulations to M Davis, who shot 92 to win the Surrey UT Championship held at the NCSC on 11 July. Roy Forrester took the veteran’s title, and H Van Roest rounded out the trio of Surrey shooters with an excellent 73 as a newcomer to the discipline.
