The Firearms (amendment) Regulations 2010
CAME INTO EFFECT on 28 July 2010 and brought the UK (England, Scotland and Wales) into line with the European Weapons Directive 1991. This amendment has raised the age at which young people may purchase or hire firearms or ammunition from the current 17 to 18 years of age. Furthermore, a young person between the ages of 15 and 17 may be given or lent a shotgun and cartridges, but may not buy or hire them. Attaining the age of 15 years, a young person may use a shotgun without supervision providing he/she holds a valid shotgun licence. Under section 11 (5) only, non certificate holders aged less than 18
but who are 15 years or older, may now only be lent a shotgun in these circumstances by a person aged 18 years or older. Under 15 years of age and you must be supervised by a person who is at least 21 years of age. Mike Williams, Technical & Training Manager
talked about his experiences in Afghanistan. Toby, from East Dorset, recently came to Purbeck as part of his rehabilitation after being injured whilst on foot patrol by an Improvised Explosive Device in Sangin. The winning team was The Branxholm Beauties (Chris Norcott, Paul Philips, Mark Foster, Mark Ayles), high gun: John Stanley, top veteran: Vasel Kosinski and top lady: Amanda Collins.
