ABT

The ABT English Open was held in early July at Southern Counties and Bucks shooter Mary Rowley shot well to finish ladies high gun; congratulations to Mary. Whilst on the subject of ABT, please note that the ABT County Championship that was postponed earlier in the year has now been re- arranged for 3 October at Nuthampstead SG.

English Sporting

The South East Region Sporting Intercounties Championship at Southdown at the end of June didn’t make it into the last Bucks report because it was held just before the deadline and space was tight. The full results of this competition have been published but it is worth mentioning that the scores were close and although the Bucks team were placed sixth out of nine teams they were only six targets behind the winning team. Bucks shooter Dean Richardson shot well again and scored 95/100 to end up tied with two others for the title of Champion, with a shoot-off intended to decide the winner at a later date. With the exception of a lady, Bucks managed to field a full team for the event so well done and thanks to the team – Phil Easeman, Gwyn Presley, Dean Richardson, Bill Richardson, Paul Brown, John White, Chester Cobb and Marcus White – for representing the county. Phil Easeman shot well at the seventh Debbie

Atherton Memorial charity shoot held at Long Marston Gun Club in early July; Phil finished high gun on 47/50 with Joe Bolton second and John Clarke third. Phil also won the pool shoot and donated the prize money back to the proceeds of the event. Many people donated generously, including the club

after prizes. So many congratulations to Chris and our best wishes for that big trip in February to New Zealand. This month, I’m even going to mention myself for a change. I headed off to Italy in mid July with the ladies GB FITASC team to compete at the very hot World FITASC Championships in Tuscany

itself who donated the clays. The shoot along with an auction held in the local pub afterwards raised nearly £5000 with proceeds going to the Ian Rennie Hospice; well done to all those involved in the event.

Skeet

Bucks colt Stanley Baughan continues to shoot well at skeet, with his latest achievement being to win the colts title at the South East of England Championship at Dartford on 11 July with a score of 97/100; congratulations to Stanley.

Down The Line

To start with, another couple of events that didn’t make it into the last report due to shortage of room. Bucks shooter Caroline Stanbrook travelled to Bisley Gun Club on 6 June for the Bisley ladies All England DTL Championship and shot an impressive 99/294 to win the title and the take silverware home. Bucks junior Steven Stanbrook shot 79/100 at the South East of England Double Rise Championship at Mayland Gun Club on 27 June to take the Junior title. Congratulations to you both. At the South East of England DTL

Championship at Mayland Gun Club on 11 July Steven Stanbrook won the junior title with a score of 93/273; congratulations Steven. Well done to Caroline Stanbrook who travelled to Scotland to shoot for England at the DTL Home International in mid-July. She reports that the weekend was rather wet and windy at times but enjoyed it nonetheless. The England Ladies DTL team were runners up at the Home International on the Friday and won the ladies DTL team Event at the British Open on the Saturday. Unfortunately we were unable to field a team for the South East Region Intercounties DTL at Mayland Gun Club on 25 July; however, Bucks colt Jack Panter did attend as the county’s sole representative and shot an impressive 98/282 to win the colts title and also joint third place in B class. Many congratulations to Jack.
