The Chairman also reminded everyone of the roles and responsibilities of the committee. The Finance Committee is constituted to review and monitor prudent financial planning and management, to ensure delivery of financial targets, and make recommendations to the Sports Group.

T
he ABU Sports & Entertainment Network was launched during the 59th Sports Conference
in Bali, Indonesia. Through this new content sharing platform, ABU members can now exchange audio video sports and other entertainment content.
Materials shared and exchanged can be used in whole or part for news and programmes. Initially, the platform will carry sports news clips, to which members hold the right to share and distribute. The ABU Sports will exchange programmes and live streams in the future.

The ABU Secretary-General, the Sports Group Chair and the Sports Director are all unanimous – the ABU Sports & Entertainment Network gives members the opportunity to promote their own sports events and they urged all members to be part of this resource- free platform.
The ABU has chosen Media Beach as the technical partner provider to set up this operation network which will constitute a major development in sports related services to members in the Asia-Pacific region. Media Beach has a good track- record in this field and has set up similar networks for Network Seven in Australia and CBS in Canada.
The ABU Sports Group Conference ended with the election of three new members to the Finance Committee - TVB Hong Kong, VTV Vietnam and ATN Afghanistan. They will serve the committee for the next two years.

The conference saw several members sharing their experiences ranging from the Rio Olympics to sports broadcasting in their respective countries. Presentations at the “member’s forum” were made by MNB Mongolia, TVB Hong Kong, and the Attitude Group from New Zealand.
Mr Dan Buckingham, General Manager of Attitude Group who is also a Paralympian, shared his personal experiences on Rio Paralympic production and highlighted the importance of promoting the Paralympic games in Asia and the Pacific. Dan Buckingham won a gold medal in wheelchair rugby at the Athens 2004 Paralympics.
The presentation on the status and preparation towards the 18th Asian Games Jakarta Palembang 2018 by the Vice Deputy II Games Administration of the Indonesia Asian Games Organising Committee, INASGOC was another highlight. There were also speakers from international federations and other sports rights holders.
