Level 2 students Aaron Lambert and Peter Llewellyn were named the Best 1st year apprentice and Best 2nd year apprentice respectively at a prestigious trade awards ceremony. Both Adam, who travelled from Derby to attend classes, and Peter, who came from Stoke-on-Trent, were acknowledged for their high standard of practical work and overall attitude in the workshop.


Mastic Asphalt is the substance that provides waterproofing for roofing and tanking, and acts as a tough working surface and damp-proof membrane in flooring and paving. We are the only college in the country to offer courses in Mastic Asphalting.


Diploma in Mastic


Asphalting (QCF level 2) This course provides you with a broad knowledge, understanding and skill training to become qualified within Mastic Asphalting. The qualification is aimed at people who wish to join the construction industry as a Mastic Asphalter.

Diploma in Mastic Asphalting (Construction


Skills NVQ level 2) You must be employed as an Asphalt Apprentice to take this course. The aim of the course is to illustrate the skills, knowledge and understanding required to confirm competence in applying mastic asphalt in the workplace. You will gain practical skills while at work. Your portfolio of evidence will be assessed.


Entry requirements: College assessment and interview. You must bring evidence that you are employed in the trade.
