There are also activities throughout the year to set you up for Higher Education, including a Higher Education Fair.
The Student Ambassador scheme is a must if you’re motivated and customer- focused. You’ll work at events and activities and have the chance to get a level 1 City & Guilds Customer Service qualification – gaining valuable skills for life after college.
The Student Association represents your voice and is financially supported by the College. In October, nominations are sought for 30 Student Council members.
The Student Parliament is the decision- making body of the Association and is made up of Student Association executives and class representatives.
Respect If you’re going to succeed, you need to take College seriously.
• You must attend 100% of your timetabled lessons including tutorials and key skills. • You must be punctual; that means if your lesson starts at 9am – you need to be in your class, with your books, notes, pens and materials ready before 9am.
• Your behaviour should be respectful and civilised at all times. You’ll be given a student diary during induction which clearly marks out what behaviour is expected from you. In return, you’ll get respect from all College staff.
• You must complete all your homework and assignments properly and on time. Expect to spend 5–10 hours on homework each week, so organise your time so you can do this.
• Use your Individual Learning Plan to improve your grades. This process will help you to become independent and to be aware of your strengths and areas you need to develop.
• Book your holidays outside of term time. • Revise and prepare for your exams and final course submissions.
