Induction It can be daunting joining a new College, so the induction will help put you at ease. As well as meeting other students, the induction includes:
• A tour of the campus • Your timetable • Course information – hard copy and on the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)
• The role of your tutor and tutorials • Assessment requirements and schedules
• An induction assignment and feedback from your tutor within one week
• Information on student services and activities
• Information on the Respect Campaign • Health and Safety information • An IT induction • A Learning Resources Centre induction • A personal tutorial for you to get to know your tutor and for them to get to know you
• Financial support available, including applying for a student Oyster card.
Support Approximately 12% of our students have disclosed a disability or additional learning support requirement; and we provide tailored support to each of them. You’ll get practical support, information and advice to support you in succeeding on your course. And, you’ll be treated with respect. If you are disabled and wish to find out more about the services at the College, contact the Access and Inclusion Manager, who will treat your call as confidential, on 020 7613 9437. You’ll get one-to-one, small group or in-class support to help with your studies – especially if you are:
• Physically impaired • Blind or partially sighted • Deaf or hard of hearing • Dyslexic, dyspraxic or dyscalculic • A person with learning difficulties and/ or disabilities
• In need of additional language, or literacy and numeracy support
• In need of additional IT skills • In need of support whilst studying due to mental health issues or concerns.
