How to get on a course at HCC
Look through this course guide to find out a bit about HCC and the range of courses you could study. Then, come along to one of our Open Evenings (see page 5 for dates). Our tutors and advisers will go through all the options with you. If you can’t make an Open Evening, call our course information team on 020 7613 9123 and they’ll arrange a time for you to come in.
People value our Open Evenings as it gives them a chance to look around the campus and see how much we have to offer – so do try and come along to one if you can. At our March and May Open Evenings, you can also have an interview and receive a conditional offer.
How to apply To guarantee a place on the course you want, you need to apply as soon as possible. But don’t worry, you’re not committed at this stage; you can change your mind about which course you do later on.
Step 1 Once you’ve decided which course you’d like to study, post or hand in your completed application form to the Admissions team. The application form is in the middle of this guide and the address to return the form to is printed on it. You can also apply online:
www.hackney.ac.uk
Step 2 We’ll invite you to an interview and/or assessment. If you haven’t already done this at an Open Evening, it’s a great time to talk to your tutor to make sure it’s the right course for you. You may need to do an online or written initial assessment. Don’t worry! It’s just to get an idea of what level you’re at so we can make sure you join the right course.
Step 3 We’ll write to you to let you know if you’ve been successfully accepted onto your chosen course (this is based on your assessment and GCSE results). Or we’ll recommend another course that you can study. You will then be invited back to the College to complete your enrolment and get your ID card.
Once you have completed your application, if you have an admissions query, please contact 020 7613 9116/9156/9492.
