AS / A2 English Language
and Literature This is a popular course where every day speech, advertising, literature and a whole range of other spoken and written texts are examined. One module offers an opportunity for creative writing and has coursework, while the others develop the skills of language analysis and are assessed by exam. It’s an excellent course for anyone who needs to develop high-level communication skills to enter fields such as law, journalism, teaching or any other career where communication is essential.

AS / A2 Film Studies You will examine modern cinema through a range of critical theories and perspectives. A varied range of films, including world cinema, are analysed in depth. You will also study the film industry and its audiences to gain an overall understanding of the filmmaking process in the 20th and 21st centuries.

AS/A2 History The focus of this course is historical themes and ideas which have helped to develop the societies in which we live. You’ll study boom and bust: economy and society in the USA 1917-1933, promise and performance – Roosevelt and the new deal in the USA, 1933-1945, civil rights in the USA 1945-1968, colonialism and de- colonialism from 1870, the Cold War and USA in Asia since 1945.
