BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary and National Diploma in
Health and Social Care The Subsidiary Diploma is a vocationally- related qualification which covers the main themes of work in the rewarding health care sector and is equivalent to one A Level. You will also work towards Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English. Core Units include: effective communication in Health and Social Care, equality, diversity and rights, health, safety and security, development through life stages, anatomy and physiology and personal and professional development.
If you achieve a merit in year 1, you can continue for a further year to a full National Diploma which expands the specialist work-related focus of year 1 and is equivalent to 2 A Levels. Students follow either a Health Studies or Social Care pathway. The course runs 3 days a week.
Entry requirements: 4 GCSEs grade A-C, College assessment, BTEC Level 2 Health and Social Care (merit). Entry is to year 1 only.
Possible next steps: Higher Education or employment in a range of Health and Social Care settings.
