Welcome
A big warm welcome to South Hackney Sixth (SHS); our exciting department for 16-18 year olds at Hackney Community College. You’ll benefit from all the great facilities and the spacious HCC campus, while enjoying the support and expertise of specialist sixth form staff. You’ll also tap into the strong links with businesses and universities that the College has built up over the years.
There are plenty of options available to you. Unlike many Colleges and Sixth Form Centres, at SHS you can mix and match academic with vocational study; so there’s loads to choose from. Have a look at our “Quick guide to what you can study” on page 16, to see what you could choose.
Alongside your course, you can also take part in a large number of extra-curricular activities and sports. We’ve listened to what our learners want, and have made an excellent and exciting programme to suit each individual.
Our dedicated network of tutors and advisers will support you all the way. Whether it’s help with your course work, personal challenges, your future study or career; our experts are on hand throughout the year.
Our success rates are improving consistently and we’re proud of last year’s students’ success:
• A2 Level pass rate: 96% • BTEC pass rate: 98% • A Level A*-C up 3%
Our students achieve higher grades than were predicted from their GCSE results at 16.
Come along to one of our open evenings and find out more about HCC and why you should make it your first choice! See page 5 for dates.
