This exciting and innovative course is aimed at students who intend to enter a career in interactive or multimedia design. The course combines digital technology with design to allow learners to use 2D and 3D animation, web authoring, image manipulation, video and motion graphics in the production of media content.
The course will provide learners with fundamental theoretical design and production skills while at the same time help them develop sought after practical digital media skills. The philosophy and delivery of the course is geared towards developing outstanding professional practice. Some of the units offered are Pre-Production Techniques, Advertising production, 2d animatiion, interactive Media Design and Digital Video Production. The course is assessed through practical based projects and briefs set by industry professionals. Lessons are delivered through work-based sessions that are hands on experience of industry software and working practices.
Entry requirements: Minimum five gCses grade a*-C or level 2 qualification e.g. BteC First diploma.
Next steps: Students who successfully complete this course could progress onto an animation, web-design or interactive media production course and university. in some cases, you can move
straight into careers including marketing, media design, web animation or games development.

the aCCess to media course combines theoretical and practical approaches to the study of modern media technologies. it will prepare you for higher education with study skills and it. You will learn how to write features and news articles, make digital films and design and create multimedia web pages. You will also use 16mm as well as learning about film theory to underpin practical knowledge.
in addition, you will study and evaluate how media messages are constructed and the different ways that they shape both the world and how we make sense of it. Academic and tutorial support is given throughout the course and you will receive help and advice with your university applications through the UCAS system.
Entry requirements: There are no specific academic entry requirements for aCCess courses. Applicants will be invited to attend an interview where we will assess your suitability for the course and you will have a chance to demonstrate your determination to succeed as well as asking any other questions you may have about the course and your options for progression. During this interview you will be asked to undertake an initial assessment to demonstrate Level 2 Literacy and Level 1 Numeracy skills.
Next steps: A degree or other higher education qualification in media or a media related field.
