52 Interior Design Design


You will learn about drawing and painting, fashion design, 3D spatial design, photography, graphic design, health and safety, the work of other artists and designer-makers. This course includes opportunities for functional skills in it, english and maths.


Entry requirements: Five gCses (grade C and above) to include art and design; relevant as/a levels; a BteC national Diploma or Certificate Level 3, or related work, courses or experience. You will need to present a portfolio of relevant work or will be given an assignment to complete in order to assess your level of skills in Art and Design disciplines at interview.


Next steps: progression to B.a. (hons) Degree or Foundation Degree courses in a wide range of art, craft and design specialisms.

Graphic Design BteC (edexcel) higher national Certificate

The course provides students with an opportunity to develop the intellectual, creative and technical skills required to be a successful contemporary practitioner in the graphic design industry. students will be provided training in the essential skills of visual communication and will have the opportunity to explore a range of forms of visual communication including illustration, print, typography, lens based media, time based media and computer aided graphic design. Course content is delivered largely through practical work and supported with study of art and design history and contemporary professional practice.


Units covered include: computer applications in art and design; historical and contextual referencing; professional studies; ideas generation; critical study; ideas in context; drawing techniques and approaches; communicating with images; working in the digital environment; editorial design.

Projects will be enriched through professional guest speakers, visits to galleries and exhibitions as well as live and simulated live briefs.


Entry requirements: entry will be subject to interview with portfolio and reference plus one of the following: Diploma in Foundation Studies in Art and Design at Merit or above, National Certificate in Art and Design or related subject (minimum double distinction), national diploma in Art and Design or related subject (minimum triple merit grade), minimum two as levels (a*- C), and/or relevant work experience.


Next steps: Progression to HND, B.A. (hons) degree second year, or professional practice in a range of careers in graphics, photography and related industries, including design for advertising, desktop publishing, illustration and digital imaging.

Interior Design edexcel BteC level 2 diploma in Art and Design

This is a specialist art and design course that focuses on interior design. it will provide students with art and design skills, teaching new techniques and processes central to the design processes and providing the opportunity to gain Vocational experience necessary to join the highly competitive Creative industries.


The course will include project based tasks which will enable you to produce a series of designs based on interior design briefs for the home, for events and shows and for theatrical sets and interiors. You will learn how to survey a room, plan space safely, produce plans and elevations, do technical drawings, produce rough sketches of interior spaces as well as developing research and observational drawing skills which will inform the creative process. You will also study design styles within cultural contexts and prepare a portfolio of work for assessment and progression to further study.
