This is an introductory course for students who would like a career in Health and Social care. The course is designed to develop a broad, relevant and practical introduction to working in the Health and Social Care sector. Some units covered are: the role of the carer, creative activities for children, job opportunities in Health and Social Care and managing your health at work.

Health and Social Care edexcel BteC level 2 diploma in Health & Social Care
16-18 | L2 | 1Y | W | SEP |)|
This is a practical, work-related course in which you learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.
The course consists of six units and these include: communication and individual rights within health and social care, anatomy and physiology, human lifespan and development, cultural diversity in health and social care, creative activities in health and social care and the impact of diet on health. The course also includes functional skills in communication and numeracy.
Next steps: BteC national diploma in Care, National Diploma in Health Studies or employment in Health and Social Care
Entry requirements: two gCse passes (grade d or above) in relevant subjects; a BteC level 1 Foundation diploma or a related Level 1 qualification.

Health and Social Care edexcel BteC level 3 diploma in Social Care

The course is for those who wish to pursue a career in Social Care, Sociology, Psychology, Social Sciences, Social Policy or other care related courses.
The course is made up of 18 units - nine core units and nine specialist units. The core units include: equality, diversity, and rights in care work; communication and supportive skills for care work; research for care; applying sociology; vocational practice; applying psychology; protecting self and others; personal and professional development.
Specialist units will include: health promotion; practical caring skills; care organisations; project in care; life span development; issues for people who use care services; ethics and, values; and technology in health and care services. The course also includes functional skills in Communications and Numeracy.
Entry requirements: You will need four gCses at grades a - C in relevant subjects; or a related Level 2 qualification with a merit or distinction.
Next steps: Higher education or employment in social care organisations.

policy, all students on childcare and health & social care courses are required to have a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check. There is a fee associated with this which must be paid by the applicant.
