All of our courses provide you with the skills you’ll need to work effectively in classrooms and to communicate skillfully with students from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Education Studies aCCess to he diploma (oCn london region)

This course is for people aiming to take up teaching as a career. You will take education studies plus two further subjects chosen from the following list: Psychology, Sociology, Historical Studies, Literature and Linguistics and Original Writing. in addition there is a compulsory core of study skills, it, arithmetic and tutorial. You will be given the opportunity to take a gCse equivalent qualification in english, maths and science if you do not already have at least a C-grade in them. A short placement in a school is also an essential part of the course. Academic and tutorial support is given throughout the course and you will receive help and advice with your university applications through the UCAS system.
Next steps: A degree in education (or possibly in another subject, followed by a pgCe).
Entry requirements: There are no specific academic entry requirements for aCCess courses. Applicants will be invited to attend an interview where we will assess your suitability for the course and you will have a chance to demonstrate your determination to succeed as well as asking any other questions you may have about the course and your options for progression. During this interview you will be asked to undertake an initial assessment to demonstrate Level 2 Literacy and Level 1 Numeracy skills.

Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector/ professional graduate Certificate in education (pgCe)

This two year course leads to becoming fully qualified to teach in the lifelong learning sector. in the first year, students will study three modules (each worth 20 he credits), which will allow them to consider: planning and assessing learning; learning theories; developing teaching resources; managing the classroom/ training environment. in the second year of the two year route, students will again study 3 modules (each worth 20 he credits): professional development; developing the curriculum; the lifelong learning sector. graduates will be able to work towards the pgCe at level 6.
Next steps: employment with fully qualified teacher status (Qtls).
Entry requirements: good level of written skill. At least Level 3 in subject area. Commitment to teaching in an inclusive environment. You must have at least 75 hours of teaching in the academic year.
