CACHE Level 1 Diploma in Caring for Young Children (QCF)

CRB Checks In line with government policy, all students on childcare and health & social care courses are required to have a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check. There is a fee associated with this which must be paid by the applicant.
This is an introductory course for students who would like a career working with young children. The course is designed to develop a broad, relevant and practical introduction to working with children. Some units covered are: human growth and development; understanding play, craft, technology, science and musical activities for young children; and practical health and safety.
Next steps: Progression to Level 2 diploma in Childcare and education.
Entry requirements: at least two gCse grade e or above. an interview will also be required. Applicants will be expected to undertake an extended piece of writing if they do not already possess the required level of english.

CACHE Level 2 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce (QCF)

The aim of this course is to equip students with practical and theoretical knowledge and skills of use in a variety of childcare settings.
Students will study 11 units: an introduction to working with children; the developing child; introduction to children’s learning; health and safety; children’s play; supporting children with special needs; working with children aged from birth to 5 years; play activity for children aged from birth to 16 years; children and families; communication and professional skills for the childcare practitioner in the workplace.
Entry requirements: three gCses grades A – D or Cache Foundation Level 1.
Next steps: Continue onto a higher level course or employment, for example in day nurseries or schools.

CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce (QCF)

The aim of this qualification is to provide the necessary skills and knowledge to work in various childcare settings. The course is delivered in units and covers a wide range of subjects. The course consists of three days theory and two days practical work per week.
The course consists of 11 units related to promoting children’s care, these include: principles and values underpinning the care, learning and development sector; supporting the provision of safe and effective childcare environments; supporting children and young persons’ development; and supporting children’s play and learning.
Entry requirements: Students will need four or more gCses at grades a*- C including maths and english, or nVQ Level 2, or the Certificate in Childcare and education.
Next steps: employment working with babies and children.
