This course is aimed at students who would like to begin a career in computing as a technician. You will learn about the uses and applications of computers in the workplace, configuring the desktop, digital devices, using spread-sheets and PowerPoint and writing CVs. You will also develop functional skills in Number and Communication.
Entry requirements: You will need to show evidence of previous study. The general entry requirement is a minimum of three gCse subjects at grade e or F, including maths, english or skills for Working life Certificate in it or similar qualifications.
Next steps: First Diploma in Computing or Computer Systems Support at South Thames College or employment.

This is a computing course which will prepare you for careers or further study in information and communication technology. it is a broad based practical course which is designed to prepare you for possible careers/study in areas such as database administration, computer programming and web design. You will study a range of subjects which will develop your skills in problem solving and team working applied to computing and it. You will also develop key skills in number, information technology and Communication.

This course will prepare you for a career as a Junior PC technician. Specialist training introduces you to PC building and troubleshooting, computer networking, and information systems.

This challenging and exciting course covers a range of topics including systems analysis, information systems, Computer programming, exploring Business. in addition you will develop your mathematics, communication and problem solving skills and your ability to work as part of a team. Assessment is through course work, projects and external tests where applicable. The units you will study on the course include Communication and employability skills, Computer systems, information systems, e-Commerce, systems analysis, event Driven Programming.
