Levels And Qualifications What leVel should You start at?


LEVEL 4 OR OVER – HIGHER EDUCATION This is equivalent to degree level study and you will need to have successfully completed a Level 3/4 course to start here. You can progress from Level 4+ qualifications to far better work prospects, to university or transfer directly to the final year of a full degree at one of our partner universities on our B.a. (hons) and Foundation degree programmes.


LEVEL 3 to start here you will usually need a minimum of 4 gCses at a*– C or Merit grades on your Level 2 course. A Level 3 qualification is comparable to A Level standard and enables you to progress to Level 4 study (higher education) or employment at technician or supervisory level. to study a levels you may need higher gCse grades in your chosen subjects.


LEvEL 2 if you have mainly d grades at gCse or have successfully completed a level 1 qualification you can start at Level 2. Your next step will be to a level 3 course or to better employment opportunities.


LEvEL 1 to be on this level you will need to have gCses at grades e – g or have successfully completed an entry level course. Qualifications at this level include practical experience either at the College or through work experience. Build on your Level 1 success by progressing to a Level 2. qualification.


ENTRY LEVEL this is your first step if you have no gCses or formal qualifications. to get on a course you may need a satisfactory interview and reference. These courses provide lots of support, and help you to develop your personal and work skills. success at entry level will move you up to a level 1 qualification.
