DK Meter revamp benefits all users
Comms and converters BroaMan
By Paul Watson Broaman is extending its Intercom range further with a new IC444 SDI device, complete with video sync, aimed squarely at OB vans. SDI-Intercom boasts four line in, four line out, four GPI (with Optocoupler), and four GPO (with relays). It also supports up to eight 3G/HD-SDI inputs or outputs, has built-in CWDM, and contains auxiliary fibre ports for an Optocore network (or
third party fibre protocols). SDI-Intercom also features a new tri-level or bi-level sync board, with RS485/GPIO, which can be used in other BroaMan products, and advanced single channel monitoring features with the latest control software The new Intercom-SDI can work in a redundant ring topology or with back-up links with automatic switchover. BroaMan is also showing the Repeat48 WDM for the first time, which converts up to 24 SDI or MADI coaxial signals to optical fibre, with CWDM or DWDM multiplexer.
This simple design can be used as a P2P decentralised network unit to run multiple video channels over a single fibre strand between two locations or as part of a bigger network to work as a stagebox for more complex routing systems, says the exhibitor. It boasts a wealth of features: up to 24 3G/HD-SDI inputs or outputs; modular design with 2- channel boards; built-in CWDM or DWDM multiplexer; 16 fibre ports for WDM COM connections;, and Optocore or third-party fibre protocols. 8.A36
DK-Technologies
By Paul Watson Picture Preview and SMPTE timecode reading are two of the new features that DK-Technologies has incorporated into its new-look DK Meter software. The new software allows 3G SDI video streams to be previewed on the DK Meter screen for instant check or permanent video display. “Broadcasters need the ability to preview the 3G SDI Video stream and, for DK- Technologies, incorporating this feature into our DK Meter software was an obvious
progression,” Uffe Kjems, product marketing director for DK-Technologies said. “Achieving this was
technically challenging but we can now offer our users the ability to measure, monitor and preview the de- embedded SDI audio stream. Picture preview is also a very useful additional feature as it can be used to quickly check the SDI video stream and is also handy when the DK Meter is being used as a mini video monitor.”
In addition, the existing, complex licence structures have been scrapped, so that all DK Meter users can now access any of the software features and functions. 8.E60
Broadcast batteries Eco without delay going for Gold again
Genelec By Paul Watson
The 8000 Series from Genelec is suitable for a wide variety of tasks including nearfield monitoring, mobile vans, broadcast control rooms and surround sound systems. The range produces high
SPL output, low colouration and broad bandwidth in a small enclosure; its Minimum Diffraction Enclosure and Directivity Control Waveguide are designed to provide excellent frequency balance in even the most difficult acoustic environments. In addition, Genelec is
committed to sustainability, which is reflected in its ISO9001 quality and ISO14001 environmental certificates. The sustainability thinking is also
evident in the materials used for its products: the 8000 Series enclosure is recycled aluminium and the new M Series for music creation benefits from Natural Composite Enclosure. The NCE is made from wood composite, doesn’t require painting, and is recyclable at the end of the product lifecycle. Both the SAM and 8000
Series products feature ISS (Intelligent Signal-Sensing) technology, which was developed to meet EU ErP Directives as part of sustainable development at Genelec. ISS minimises energy waste
by significantly reducing power consumption when items are left in standby mode. ISS automatically puts the loudspeaker amplifier to a low- power sleep state where the loudspeaker will consume less than 0.5W of power. 8.D61
PAG By David Fox
AG has introduced two new versions of its Gold-Mount compatible broadcast battery, which can be charged using Anton-Bauer Li-Ion chargers. The L96 is a 96 Watt-hour, 14.8v 6.5Ah, Li-Ion battery with a maximum continuous output current rated at 8 Amps. It is compatible with the Anton-Bauer battery
communication system, which displays capacity in camera viewfinders via the Gold-Mount, and displays internally recorded data such as number of cycles, date of manufacture and temperature, on the screens of Interactive 2000 series chargers.
Power up: PAG’s new L96T battery
on an Anton-Bauer TM4 charger
Both L96 models indicate capacity and remaining camera run time on their built-in displays. The PAG L96T Time Battery has a numeric display, in
either hours and minutes or percentage remaining. The lower-cost PAG L96e has a five- LED indicator. 10:C49
