Video delivery of the future RGB Networks
By Ian McMurray As OTT streaming and other mobile video services become more widely available, video service providers require a new generation of video delivery technologies in order to retain their competitive edge. That’s the story according to RGB Networks, who is demonstrating how the company’s ‘Multiscreen 2.0’ solutions, consisting of several next-generation products for live, on-demand and time- shifted delivery, allow VSPs to significantly expand and streamline their TV Everywhere deployments, while generating new revenues.
RGB is showing its newly launched Video Multiprocessing Gateway (VMG) Gen 2 – the heart of RGB’s Multiscreen 2.0 live streaming solution. The new, carrier-class transcoding platform is claimed to perform the industry’s highest density realtime transcoding with the best video quality available. Integrated with RGB’s TransAct Packager, the pairing is said to be able to easily scale through ‘pay- as-you-grow’ licensing to meet growing demand for multiscreen services. The RGB team is also on hand to discuss multiscreen monetisation. Using advanced adaptive bitrate streaming to facilitate hyper- targeted advertising down to the neighbourhood, device or even individual subscriber, RGB says that its Ad Insertion for Multiscreen (AIM) solution enables VSPs to utilise a proven model for monetising video services in the multiscreen environment. 4.B70
mechanism to fasten it to the earth pin and a connector with a red button that must be depressed to unlock the lead. This added feature helps
secure critical equipment from mains failure and is ideal for situations where equipment is
placed on sliding rack trays or in OB vehicles where vibration may become an issue. The IEC-lock mains cables are offered in 1m, 2m, 3m, 4m and 5m lengths.
Also on show is the Fischer Triax HD Pro+. Produced in
conjunction with Draka, this development combines Fischer connectors with Draka cabling and is said to increase transmission distances by more than 30%. The Fischer Triax HD Pro+ is designed for both indoor and
outdoor applications and, according to Argosy,
‘maximises the performance’ of Triax equipment without the need for additional investment in fibre.
A new mini BNC connector
from Amphenol is also on show amongst a range of other broadcast infrastructure options. 10.C51
