Cobalt Digital By Will Strauss

Cobalt Digital has improved the loudness metering capabilities of its Compass and Fusion3G

cards. The new features include multi-session loudness metering and logging with timecode input as well as ATSC A/85, ITU BS.1770-3 and EBU R128 compliance.

Optimised for production and post production the

enhancements appear on the Fusion 990-series and the Compass 9085 as well as the 9301 AES cards.

Cobalt Digital EVP of sales and marketing Chris Shaw said: “The implementation of ATSC A/85 and EBU R128 loudness

measurements and compliance directives, along with their respective incorporation in both the US and Europe, has yielded great improvements in TV loudness. “There is now a growing call from broadcasters for content

creators to deliver compliant content – as this will greatly reduce the need for extreme corrections at the broadcast headends and aid in maintaining original audio production quality. [Our] enhancements specifically address the needs of the production and post production community,” Shaw added. Other improvements include optional LTC input for accurate dubbing, post production and EDLs; full logging of all non- compliant issues; error warnings; and regional and standards variations configurable via Cobalt’s remote control WinOGCP application. An upgrade path includes Dolby Decode/Encode, Linear Acoustic upMAX Upmixing and Linear Acoustic Aeromax loudness processing. 10.B44

AutoControl launches the Lynx APPolo

Lynx Technik

By Michael Burns Lynx Technik is launching an AutoControl feature for the APPolo control system, which adds a layer of automation to it

A self-configuring control system for remote control, status monitoring and SNMP error reporting, APPolo is typically used with the Series 5000 CardModule system, as the heart of a centralised control system which can easily be expanded. The company says the system can be used for controlling small or large Series 5000 system installations, ranging from a single rack to hundreds of racks located in different locations. AutoControl allows users to configure and set system conditions for any parameter in a system, which if met, will trigger pre-programmed and automated actions. An example would be changing signal routing settings on a distribution amplifier based on a given video format being detected elsewhere in the system.

Multiple external GPI connections have also been added, allowing users to create actions based on system triggers from external devices, or send commands to external devices. 8.C70
