ActiveVideo By Heather McLean

For pay-TV operators, online video providers and CE

manufacturers, the single greatest obstacle to the ubiquitous roll out of

multiplatform services has been the need to write user interfaces and apps multiple times for the fragmented

device ecosystem in the home, says ActiveVideo. At IBC, ActiveVideo is showing how its CloudTV software platform decouples the UI from device resources, enabling reduced cost and

time-to-market for development and deployment of consistent, branded experience and applications, with or without a set-top box, on every device. CloudTV’s ‘write once, deploy everywhere approach’ moves

the HTML5 browser to the cloud and streams the fully formed UI to such devices as existing and new QAM and IP STBs, CI+ modules, HDMI sticks and SmartTVs. ACG Research has said that CloudTV can accelerate the rollout of consistent, branded UIs on any STB or connected device at TCO savings of up to 83%, according to the exhibitor. Recent upgrades to the latest version of the platform, CloudTV H5, include Render Layers; Smart Multiplexing, and Dual Stream Rendering. ActiveVideo has also

introduced a a family of thin clients – CloudTV Nano, CloudTV Nano Lite and CloudTV Nanoware. These are apparently based on an ultra- light code base and work with the CloudTV platform to deliver consistent user experiences on any connected device with minimal custom integration. 3.B13

Medway adds Adobe support

Marquis Broadcast

By Heather McLean Medway V3, the flagship integration product from Marquis Broadcast, is now available with support for Adobe Premiere Pro CC and is being demonstrated on Marquis Broadcast’s stand. Medway will integrate with Adobe Premiere Pro CC into broadcast workflows that require media, sequences and metadata to be passed between video servers, MAMs and automation systems, as well as sending to other editing platforms. To achieve this, Medway supports clip, sequence and metadata exchange with Adobe Premiere Pro CC. Simon Fearn, product manager at Marquis Broadcast, said: “Medway will transfer both single MXF media clips from Adobe Premiere Pro CC and XML sequences, export sequences and media to Adobe Premiere Pro CC and embed genealogy metadata in the XMP sidecar file to enable the source of the media to be tracked, streamlining users’ workflows.” 2.A58
