Prompt delivery: The latest version of the Radio-Assist software suite introduces cloud-based management, teleprompter and iOS editing

Presenters with heads in the cloud

Netia By Michael Burns

GlobeCast company Netia is unveiling version 8.2 of its Radio- Assist software suite. This latest release boasts three main enhancements: a teleprompter, cloud-based management and an iOS-based editing tool. The new teleprompter module is linked to the playout system in the studio and gives presenters and journalists convenient visual access to news scripts, which scroll continuously down the presenter’s screen. Customisable features include text size, colour selection and an automatic speed control that adapts to reading speed.

The introduction of cloud-based management for Radio-Assist gives users the ability to access the system database from any network- connected workstation. Particularly valuable for multisite radio broadcasters, this capability enables authorised users anywhere to access, retrieve, and work on the same content, without the need for media transfers. By storing content in the cloud, Radio-Assist can serve as an online production database or as an online content archive. Sharing the same look and ergonomic principles as the Snippet desktop editing interface, the new iPhone- and iPad-compatible iSnippet tool allows field reporters and other remote users to use audio editing capabilities on the move. 8.B36f

DataMiner 8.0 levels up

Skyline Communications By Ian McMurray

DataMiner 8.0, which is claimed to be one of the largest DataMiner releases ever, is being launched at IBC by Skyline Communications – which says it will bring multi-vendor network management to a next level by introducing important new innovations and concepts. Amongst a large number of new

features and capabilities, DataMiner 8.0 introduces DataMiner Mediation Layer, which is designed to standardise the way human operators and advanced automation procedures can interact with devices and systems from different vendors.

DataMiner Mediation Layer is designed to make the multi-vendor nature of an operation completely transparent to

operators, while maintaining the capability to leverage all vendor-specific features and capabilities. Also new for release 8.0 is a user- definable Router Control UI, which is said to redefine how signals can be managed easily and intuitively across hardware routing solutions from different vendors and across different signal domains. In addition to the new DataMiner 8.0

release, Skyline is also showcasing a range of DataMiner Applications. These are a new generation of product-specific or technology-specific solutions, designed by teams of subject matter experts for out-of-the-box deployment on standard DataMiner platforms. DataMiner Applications on display today include, for example, solutions to manage IP networks, Netinsight Nimbra networks, Appear TV ecosystems and for interfacing with ScheduALL platforms. 1.A21
