By Carolyn Giardina Through a recent collaborative deal between storage company GB Labs and Marquis Broadcast, GB Labs now supports Marquis’ Project Parking application designed to give Avid facilities control over their media files and video projects – resulting in a shared editing and archiving workflow that is being demonstrated for the first time at IBC today. Earlier this year, GB Labs announced collaborative Avid editing tools for its Space scalable central storage units. In combination with Project Parking, supervisors have oversight of every project and each associated file –
capabilities that can be used for storage management data security, project restoration and disaster recovery.

Developing services for multiscreen S3 Group
By Heather McLean
S3 Group is showing its expertise in next generation platform development, focusing on its end-to-end solutions, and system integration successes with major operators in evolving their digital architecture and services.
The company’s skills in migrating operators to a gateway-client architecture are also highlighted, drawing on insights from its recent systems integration-based CPE engagements with operators and major OEMs, including those based on Reference Design Kit (RDK). Visitors to the stand can also view a number of solution demonstrations. These include S3 Group’s StormTest Development Centre, a test automation platform undertaking integrated multiscreen testing of HD set-top boxes, iPads, XBoxes, and connected TVs. 3.B18
and restored very quickly and primary storage arrays can be managed more efficiently. Thanks to the collaboration with Marquis, GB Labs’ Avid customers can ‘immediately’ locate every project wherever it is stored on the network,
recognise every duplicate file, manage redundant clips and transfer completed jobs to near- line or offline storage, ready to be restored as needed. “Project Parking allows editors the confidence to manage the complete lifecycle
of their Avid projects, from primary storage to archive.” Said Simon Fearn, product manager, Marquis Broadcast. “Because GB Labs manufactures storage that seamlessly covers the whole workflow, it’s an excellent platform for our software: together the two companies will make end-to-end media management exceptionally
simple,” Fearn said. “This is a great match,” added Ben Pearce of GB Labs. “By adding Project Parking support to the GB Labs portfolio, facilities can now share Avid bins, edit collaboratively, archive safely and manage their storage. Combined, it’s a very powerful and cost-effective proposition.” 7.J15b
