Extra bright: The 2000 Nit eX-SBL on the left with red knob compared to a regular 1000 Nit CineMonitorHD SBL
From Starlite to eXtremely Bright
Transvideo
By David Fox The new, ultra-slim, lightweight StarliteHD Monitor, is one of the first of a new generation of products from Transvideo with wireless capability. It is about the size of an iPhone, and has an advanced OLED 5-inch display with an EBU colour gamut, a powerful processor, and the ability to record HD onto a removable SD card. It has a touchscreen (there are no buttons), HD- SDI and 3G-SDI inputs and outputs, low-power consumption, weighs 187 grams, and will cost about €1450.
Also new is Transvideo’s CineMonitorHD 6 eX-SBL (for eXtremely Super Bright Light), which has a new generation display with a brightness measurement of 2000 Nits.
“This is the brightest monitor we know of for Steadicam, remote head operation, camera cars, aerials, or handheld work in daylight and bright lighting setups,” said Jacques Delacoux, Transvideo’s owner. The monitor also has a new
antireflective (AR) coating to reduce glare. Its price of €4900 includes Virtual Horizon 2 and the Bluetooth module necessary to communicate with the latest Virtual Horizon 3 (remote electronic level). 11.F31
Shelter from the storm ViaLite Communications
By Ian McMurray A new product in the ViaLite RF over fibre product range, which is said to promise significant cost savings for teleport operators, has been announced by ViaLite
Communications. The Satcom6 is a weatherproof outdoor enclosure, designed specifically for the satellite communications market. “We are very excited about the launch of the Satcom6,” said Martin Ryan, managing director of ViaLite Communications. “Weatherproof enclosures mean no outbuildings are required – potentially a huge cost
saving. Also, ViaLite links up to 100km long can be monitored and controlled remotely via SNMP over the web, allowing users to monitor and control the link from anywhere at any time. That kind of flexibility has the potential to provide major benefits to teleport operators.” The enclosure can be wall or pole mounted on the antenna, or close to it, minimising copper losses, and the unit accepts up to six modules. The Satcom6 also supports CWDM, so users who lease fibre can, says ViaLite, keep costs down by using CWDM to concentrate the traffic down a single fibre. 1.A11KN
