theibcdaily Accommodating bigger heads
Polecam Systems By David Fox
Although its users have traditionally used miniature cameras, Polecam’s latest motorised heads can also be used with larger cameras, such as the Canon C300 or Red Epic. A choice of head is included in the Polecam Starter Pack, which was introduced to bring the entry-level cost down. It has now extended this with the PSP+ (costing £6,495), which adds the twin battery V-mount plate and the Polecam carbon fibre monitor clamp, as they were the two products buyers were most likely to add to the PSP. PAG is also on the Polecam stand, and Polecam founder, Steffan Hewitt uses the V- mount PAGlink system to reduce the need for counterweights. “We have six of the batteries on the back of the Polecam, which means fewer counterweights and all-day power. I don’t have to worry about power. Even if there is AC available, this keeps me independent and mobile. There is no other system that can do this for us,” Hewitt explained. 10.C49
Mini Merlin weaves its spell Quicklink By Heather McLean
The Mini Merlin offers a complete solution for wireless camera work with the ability to transmit via bonded 3G/4G, bonded satellite, ADSL, WiFi and WiMAX direct to the newsroom, says exhibitor quicklink, which has the product
on show today. Weighing 735g, it is small enough to fit either on the back of a camera, or can be attached to a belt, allowing flexibility of movement to the operator while working in extreme environments.
Boasting full web based
remote control and a 2.4-inch LCD touchscreen single button transmit, the Mini Merlin supports all Quicklink software
and hardware and is futureproof, with upgrades and technological improvements continuously available to ensure that the product remains ahead of the game.
Quicklink is also
demonstrating a range of cost- effective ways to capture, transmit, repurpose and deliver high quality media for both live and store forward broadcasts. 3.B39
