On Tour with David R. Carr

ET EVERYONE in your community know about the fine work the BPO Elks does! After you have finished read- ing your copy of The Elks Magazine, just remove your name and address, and do- nate the magazine to your local

library, your doctor’s office, your dentist’s office, your car repair shop waiting room, or any other public place where people sit and read for a while. By doing this, you allow other people to enjoy the successes of the BPOE, and perhaps they will want to join, or have their children participate in some of the Elks youth programs. The BPO Elks can help many people in your commu- nity, and you also can use The Elks Magazine to inform them about the Elks and let them know what is available for their charitable and civic needs. Donate your copy of the magazine and show that Elks Care—Elks Share.

GER Carr also accompanied a group of New York Elks on a tour of Fort Drum, which is home to the 10th Mountain Division of the US Army. The tour concluded with a visit to the USO Fort Drum center, which opened in 2007. Pictured at the donation ceremony are (from left) Watertown Lodge ER Kathy Converse, PDD Timothy Kelly, USO Fort Drum Director Karen Clark, Fort Drum Commanding General US Army MG Mark Milley, GER Carr, Hollyanne Milley (Major General Milley’s wife), Potsdam Lodge ER William LaPoint, and SP Phillip Holowacz.

u GER David Carr and his wife, Penny, traveled to Bedford, VIRGINIA, to participate in the 38th annual Christmas Lighting Ceremony at the Elks National Home. Following a performance of Christmas carols by the Elks National Home choir, GER Carr pushed the button that lit the home’s Christmas light display. About 30,000 cars drive through to look at the display every year. During his visit, GER Carr also accompanied a group of Virginia Elks as they distributed dictionaries to 240 seventh-grade students at Bedford Middle School. Pictured at
