Greater Spokane, WA, Lodge members attended a Court of Honor Ceremony for new Eagle Scout Jared Nelson, of Boy Scout Troop No. 415, and presented him with a US flag. For his Eagle Scout Project, Nelson removed two trees, planted two new trees, and performed other landscaping tasks on the grounds of a local church. Harrisonburg, VA, Lodge members accompanied by volunteers delivered 360 Christmas food boxes to needy families. Each family received a box containing enough food for a full Christmas dinner and several more meals, as well as toys for their children. Many of the boxes also contained sweatshirts or jackets.


Loudoun, VA, Lodge donated a large number of toys to the Children’s National Medical Center in Washing- ton, DC. The donated toys filled two pickup trucks and a van. In other news, lodge members delivered Christmas food baskets to 25 needy families. Each basket contained a full holiday dinner and another week’s worth of food.


In more news, lodge members presented certificates to nine scouts in thanks for their assistance with a lodge Veterans Service activity at the Martinsburg, WV, VA Medical Center.


Newport News, VA, Lodge held a Christmas Party for 31 children and provided them with breakfast and a visit with Santa, who gave each child a gift. Lodge members also delivered Christmas food baskets to 20 needy families. Each basket contained enough food for a full holiday dinner. In other news, the lodge donated $4,000 to Denbigh United Christian

Outreach, which provides food and financial assistance to needy families. The lodge also made a $600 donation to the Tidewater Region of Special Olympics–Virginia.


In more news, lodge members distributed dictionaries to 135 third- grade students at An Achievable Dream Academy, a local charter school for at-risk children.


Petersburg, VA, Lodge members, with the help of a $2,000 ENF Promise Grant, delivered Christmas food boxes to 41 needy families. Each box contained a full Christmas dinner and several days’ worth of food. In other news, the lodge donated nearly 3,000 food items to the Down- town Churches United HOPE Center to restock the center’s food bank. The lodge also donated a used vacuum cleaner to the center.


In more news, the lodge held its annual Christmas Dinner and pro- vided 13 guests from the community with a meal.


Waynesboro, VA, Lodge members distributed Christmas food boxes to 50 needy families. Each box contained a full holiday dinner plus food for several more meals.


In other news, the lodge donated about $550 to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.


Tacoma, WA, Lodge held its annual Stocking Filler Program and provided toys to more than 4,800 children. The children who attended the event were greeted by Santa Claus and as- sisted by lodge members and other volunteers. Other organizations that assisted with the event included the Salvation Army, the US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, and the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Crimes- toppers Program. Lodge members also distrib- uted 340 bicycles that were donated by a retail store to the children. Pictured with Santa (lodge member Paul Christel) are Leland Schwanz and his mother, Robin.


In related news, lodge members, along with Santa, visited a YMCA domestic violence shel- ter and provided food, gifts, face painting, mu- sical entertainment, and a magic show for 40 children and 26 mothers.


Woodbridge, VA, Lodge held its annual Margaret Colley Christmas Party for 115 children and adults with special needs. Partygoers were residents of seven group homes supported by the Arc of Prince William, which supports people with developmental disabilities. The party featured lunch, music, dancing, and an appearance by Santa, who gave a gift to each partygoer.


Port Townsend, WA, Lodge members invited nine members of two military families to the lodge’s Children’s Christmas Party. In addition to a meal, guests enjoyed games and prizes. The lodge also used a $1,000 ENF Promise Grant to give each family $500 to help cover their holiday expenses.


Watertown, WI, Lodge members delivered Christmas dinners to about 325 people. The lodge also hosted a Christmas Dinner for 75 people. ■
