Cid for Grand Trustee Whereas, The officers and members of Latrobe, Pennsylvania, Lodge No. 907 do recognize and appreciate the dedicated service and support rendered by Victor J. Cid to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America, the Pennsylvania Elks State Association, and the Latrobe


Elks Lodge; and Whereas, He was initiated into the Order as a member of


the Latrobe Lodge in 1978 and started through the chairs as tiler in 1986, was exalted ruler in 1991–1992, 1995–1996, and 2000–2001, served on various committees of the lodge, initiating many programs, activities, and fund-raising events, was chairman of the 100th anniversary of the lodge, was awarded honorary life membership in his lodge in 1998; and Whereas, He served the Pennsylvania Elks State Associa- tion as vice president of the West Central District in 1996– 1997, served as state chairman for Pennsylvania Major Projects from 1998 to 2001 and state Drug Awareness chairman from 2001 to 2007, was recognized at the Grand Lodge Convention in Orlando, Florida, as the National Drug Awareness Chairman of the Year, was state president in 2008–2009, is currently the chairman of the District Advisory Committee, a member of the Pennsylvania State Advisory Committee, and Pennsylvania Housing chairman for the Grand Lodge Conventions; and Whereas, He served the Grand Lodge as district deputy for the West Central District in 1997–1998, was appointed to serve on the Grand Lodge Youth Activities Committee from 2010 to 2012; and Whereas, He served in the US Air Force from 1961 to 1965, started his own company in 1972, has earned nine master plumbers licenses in nine states, is a thirty-second degree member of the Scottish Rite of the Masonic Order, Tall Cedars branch of the Masons, a life member of the Latrobe Goodwill Fire Department, a member of the Moose, Eagles, American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars,

Luhr; and Whereas, He was initiated into the Petersburg Lodge on November 1, 1977, became a trustee in 1990, holding that position until 1998, was appointed esquire in 1998, began his procession through the officer’s chairs, served as the exalted ruler from 2001 until 2003, served as trustee from 2003 to 2008, and has also served as the lodge treasurer from 2008 until the present; and Whereas, He was elected as president of the Alaska State Elks Association in 2009, where he worked to strengthen the fraternal bonds of all the Alaskan lodges, was appointed in 2010 to the ASEA Trust Fund Board of Trustees for a five-year term and was also appointed as the state Lodge Activities chairman; and Whereas, He served the Grand Lodge with distinction as the district deputy for the Alaska East District from 2004 to 2006 and 2008–2009, has also served as the special repre- sentative of Alaska East from 2011 until the present; and Whereas, He has always been an upright and loyal Elk with strong ties to his family and community, started his marine repair business in 1980 and expanded the business to include a shipyard in 2011; and Whereas, he has accomplished all of the foregoing with the help and support of his wife of eighteen years, Barbra Luhr, and their children, Sabrina, John, Justin, and Bradee, as their family and business have grown; now therefore Be it resolved, That the officers and members of Peters- burg, Alaska, Lodge No. 1615 are honored to present to the 2012 Grand Lodge Convention in Austin, Texas, the name of Michael T.
