Deland, FL, Lodge held a Christmas Party for children from the commu- nity. Nearly 100 children attended the party, which featured games, snacks, crafts, and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Santa and Mrs. Claus gave each child a toy. The lodge also made a donation of about 30 toys to the US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program.


East Central District, FL, lodges held Human Horse Race fund-raisers at dictrict lodges and raised nearly $4,400 for the Harry-Anna Trust Fund, which supports the two state major projects, the Florida Elks Youth Camp and Florida Elks Children’s Therapy Services.


Edgewater-New Smyrna Beach, FL, Lodge held a Mystery Dinner fund- raiser and raised nearly $820 for the Army of Hope, an Elks program that provides assistance to the families of deployed military personnel.


Florida Keys, FL, Lodge held a Pot Roast Dinner fund-raiser and raised $860 for lodge scholarships.

Connecticut Elks Association donated $15,000 to sponsor the two-day Special Olympics Connecticut Volleyball Tournament in New Haven. Connecticut Elks volunteers assisted with registration, judged contests, served food, and provided other support to the event and the 250 Olympians who took part in it. Cape Henlopen, DE, Lodge members attended a Court of Honor Ceremony for new Eagle Scout Gregory P. Manhard, of lodge-sponsored Boy Scout Troop No. 2540, and gave him a certificate and a US flag. For his Eagle Scout Project, Manhard replaced and repaired a number of signs at St. Thomas More Academy. In other news, the lodge, with the help of a $2,000 grant from the William J. Jernick Fund, donated $2,500 to the family of two-year-old Saylor Hayes to help with costs associated with her treatment for leukemia. The Jernick Fund is a charitable fund of the Maryland, Delaware and District of Columbia Elks Association that assists children with serious illnesses or disabilities.


Florida State Elks Association members who are also members of Elks Riders USA participated in a Toy Run organized by an AMVETS post.


The riders donated several toys and a $100 gift card to the Gifts of Love Community Coalition, which provides assistance to needy families.
