Elk Grove, CA, Lodge members honored Soccer Shoot participant Capriana Viano- Nitschke for winning the U–8 Girls division of the California-Hawaii Elks Association’s Soccer Shoot. Lodge members presented Capriana with a plaque in honor of her accomplishment in a ceremony at the lodge. Pictured with Capriana is lodge member Phillip Benadum.


Hemet, CA, Lodge members visited four nursing facilities and gave holiday cards and gift bags to nearly 150 residents. Each handmade gift bag contained a stuffed toy animal, a small piece of homemade clothing, and several other small gifts.


In other news, the lodge donated about $1,000 to the Hemet Commu- nity Pantry.


Huntington Beach, CA, Lodge held a Christmas Party for needy families, which 200 people attended. Lodge members provided their guests with lunch and games and arranged for the children to enjoy a magic show and face painting. Each child also visited with Santa, who gave each of them a gift. The lodge was assisted in this event by members of the Edison High School girls’ soccer team.


Garden Grove, CA, Lodge held its annual Christmas Party for 125 needy children and their parents. Partygoers were given lunch, which was followed by entertainment and a visit with Santa, who gave each child a gift and posed for a photograph with each family. Lodge members also gave out a number of door prizes, including six bicycles, to children who attended the party. Lodge members were assisted at the event by Miss Garden Grove and by scouts from Boy Scout Troop No. 111. La Habra, CA, Lodge members visited Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and donated a trailer-load of toys, worth about $12,000, to the base headquarters to be given to the children of deployed marines at base- sponsored Christmas parties.
