HE MEMBERS of the Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Lodge do not typically wear life vests—unless they are out boating. Nonetheless, civic leaders in Lake Havasu City know that the Elks of the Lake Havasu City Lodge are around-the-clock lifesavers. For example, HAVEN Family Resource Center, a nonprofit organization that serves victims of various crimes, has neither the staff nor the resources to hold its own fund-raising events, but over the years, the Lake Havasu City Lodge has been there to help. “The Elks have been so generous, donating almost $20,000 to us in the past five years,” says Mary Lou O’Connell, director of HAVEN Family Resource Center. “We’ve spent some of the money to buy food for the week- ends to give to homeless children who are living in cars, campgrounds,
