Newark, NY, Lodge members visited the Canandaigua VA Medical Center along with other members of West Central District lodges and gave lap robes, toiletries, winter clothing, reading materials, puzzles, and games to veterans being treated there. The Newark Lodge contributed 700 items to the gifts for the veterans.


Butler, PA, Lodge sponsored a USO-style variety show performance by the Re-Creation USA troupe at the Butler VA medical facility. Bordentown, NJ, Lodge Veterans Service Committee members, along with members of New Jersey Mission of Honor, placed wreaths and US flags on the graves of 42 veterans in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown.


Closter, NJ, Lodge hosted a Dinner for 15 veterans from the Veterans Memorial Home–Paramus. The event also featured musical entertainment.


Flemington, NJ, Lodge members visited the Veterans Memorial Home– Menlo Park and three assisted living facilities and gave gifts to 52 veterans. Lodge members also gave gifts to 150 other residents of one of the facilities.


Middletown, NJ, Lodge members, accompanied by Autumn the therapy dog, visited two assisted living facilities and provided bingo games and entertainment by a magician for about 40 veterans at each facility. Prizes for the games included hats and a total of $600 in cash prizes.


Sussex, NJ, Lodge members invited 22 veterans to dinner at the lodge on Veterans Day. Lodge members also gave each veteran a small US flag. In other news, the lodge held a candlelit Memorial Service for the victims of the Pearl Harbor attacks.

West Orange, NJ, Lodge donated $500 to Wreaths Across America, which coordinates a nationwide wreath- laying each December to honor the sacrifices of US troops. The funds were raised through the sale of Stars for Veterans, which were put on display in the lodge’s grillroom.


Westwood, NJ, Lodge members visited the Veterans Memorial Home– Paramus and gave gift bags to more than 200 veterans. Each bag contained homemade cookies and several other small gifts.


Deming, NM, Lodge members, accompanied by Santa Claus, visited the New Mexico Veterans Home. Santa called a bingo session for the approximately 50 veterans in atten- dance and then visited and posed for a photo with each veteran.


Endicott, NY, Lodge members visited the New York State Veterans Home– Oxford, provided 43 veterans with snacks, beverages, and musical entertainment, and also gave each veteran a gift.


Liberty, NY, Lodge members hosted 64 veterans for dinner at the lodge. Among the guests were 16 veterans from Daytop, a substance abuse treatment program. The lodge also raised $200 at the event to purchase canteen books for patients at the Castle Point VA medical facility.


Vestal, NY, Lodge members attended a Christmas Party at the New York State Veterans Home–Oxford and gave gifts and refreshments to the 35 veterans who attended the party. Lodge members also provided live musical entertainment for the party.


New Bern, NC, Lodge, along with the local Knights of Columbus, donated $11,500 to the Wounded Warrior Project Holiday Travel Program, which helps wounded veterans return home for the holiday season. In other news, lodge members visited the State Veterans Nursing Home–Fayetteville and gave Christ- mas presents to veterans living there. The gifts included music players, recorded music, clothing, toiletries, gift cards, and reading material.


Raleigh, NC, Lodge donated $1,080 to support charities for veterans. The lodge donated $360 to the local Rolling Thunder chapter, which raises awareness about POW and MIA issues. The lodge also donated $360 each to the ladies auxiliary and the lodge’s Veterans Service Committee to assist veterans at the local VA medical facilities and state veterans nursing homes. Funds for each of the dona- tions came from a Monte Carlo Night fund-raiser that the lodge held with the assistance of North Carolina Vietnam Veterans, Inc.


Dayton, OH, Lodge members, accom- panied by Santa Claus, visited the Dayton VA Medical Center and held their 24th annual Christmas Party for 85 veterans. Lodge members provided the veterans with snacks and bever- ages, and Santa visited them and gave him or her some canteen books and other small gifts.
