Elks Drug Awareness Program
Gilbert, AZ, Lodge members staffed a booth during a youth sports event and gave drug awareness red ribbons, coloring books, bookmarks, pamphlets, and other literature to 245 spectators and participants.
Jerome, AZ, Lodge members distrib- uted drug awareness red ribbons and bookmarks to more than 600 elemen- tary school students as part of a dictionary distribution project.
Petaluma, CA, Lodge members distributed drug awareness coloring books and bookmarks to more than 100 children who attended the lodge’s Christmas Party.
u GREEN VALLEY, AZ, Lodge members, accompanied by Elroy the Elk, honored the winners of their Drug Awareness Poster Contest in a ceremony at Sahuarita Intermediate School. Lodge members judged the 100 posters that were submitted by third- through fifth-grade students, awarded a medal to the top contestant in each class section, and awarded a drug awareness basketball to the top student in each grade level. TEMECULA VALLEY, CA, Lodge members r honored the winners of their Drug Awareness Essay Contest and provided them and their families with dinner at the lodge. Lodge mem- bers judged nearly 350 essays submitted by sixth- through eighth-grade students and awarded the top three boys and girls certifi- cates and savings bonds worth $100, $75, and $50 for first, second, and third place, respec- tively.
