FORKLIFT VALVE

Provides vapor or liquid withdrawal service on con- tainers that have a separate safety relief valve. Has a forged brass handwheel and stem, proven shock resistant, which reduces damage. Valve also has 360° locking pin that prevents tampering.

FORKLIFT CONNECTORS

These connectors are installed on LP gas motor fuel lines, especially forklift truck systems, to provide quick closing coupling in the fuel line.

Part number 7141M goes on the service valve outlet, while part number 7141F connects to the motor fuel line. Both connectors have an internal check valve that opens by attaching the two units together. When dis- connected, spring force and pressure close the checks.

Trace Leak Phenommenon on gas valves is common. It appears as a gas leak at the valve and normally the valve is replaced, only to find the new valve leaks as well. Another “bad” valve? Maybe, but more than likely not. You may be experiencing diaphragm or gasket PERMEATION. The gas actually leaks thru the gasket, or rubber diaphragm in small trace amounts. This PERMEATION is normal and extremely small (less than 200 cc/hr for outerwall leakage and 235 cc/hr for thru valve leakage allowed by ANSI).

Electronic leak detectors will P/U as little as 0.50 cc/hr and cause unnecessary replacement of valves. Obviously, using the electronic leak detector to determine that a leak is present is acceptable, but another step must be taken before replacing a “Leaking Valve”. A verification of flow leakage should be done with a reliable flow meter, or at very least a bubble solution should be applied. If the leak is large enough to cause bubbles to form and burst, the assumption is the valve should be replaced. If the leak forms a bubble which does not quickly burst, the assumption should be that the valve leak is due to permeation.

REMEMBER...This “Trace Leakage Phenommenon” can happen on any brand gas valve and is perfectly normal up to the limits set by ANSI. So... the next time you detect gas leakage on a valve, check to be sure it isn’t just allowable “gas permeation” before replacing the valve.
